Slam Jam Success!

On Wednesday 17th May, Faith Croft (Year 7), Michael Howell and Cas Potterton (Year 11) competed at the annual poetry Slam Jam semi-finals at Lincoln Christ Hospital School. We were the final heat and our students competed against other students across KS3 and KS4 from South Axholme and LCHS.

Despite the heavy rain on our journey, our spirits were not dampened and we went in battle ready!

The standard was high and it was a tough competition. Faith, Michael and Cas put on excellent performances with their work; ranging from poems on friendship to mental health.

We had an anxious wait as we stood around waiting for the judges’ scores, but to our relief we left with beaming smiles as Cas Potterton was declared the winner of the heat, with his powerful and thought- provoking poem: ‘Legacy.’

Lincoln Castle Academy left victorious; we came, we saw and we conquered. Now onwards to the final!
