18/08/14 - GCSE Results

Lincoln Castle Academy students and staff celebrated wonderful results today with a record number of Year 11 achieving at the highest level. The majority of students now gain a place in our Sixth Form, having secured the required grades.

This group of Year 11 students have had to respond to a good deal of challenge; we reacted to national expectations by raising these students’ targets and ensuring that they met them with 6 weekly formal assessments. In addition, we converted to ‘Go4schools’ as a tool to track progress and provide online access to live data for parents and students.

We raised our expectations of student behaviour, demanding that students were: ‘resilient, proactive, curious and responsive to challenge’ to achieve an ‘A’ for our important ‘Attitude to Learning’ measure. With each new challenge or enhanced expectation, our Year 11 students have responded admirably. Phoebe O’Leary achieved: 1 A*, 7 A grades, 1 B grade, 2 Distinction* and 1 Merit whilst Alex Harrison achieved 1 A*, 4 A grades, 4 B grades, 1 Merit and 1 Distinction. Both students reflect the impressive levels of commitment evident throughout this year group.

All Academies in England operate under the legal ownership of a Trust, rather than the local Educational Authority.

Ermine Primary Academy has now been admitted to the Academy of Lincoln Trust and joins Lincoln Castle Academy as the second of the Trust’s schools which now collectively provide education for children from three to eighteen years and are supportive of each other in all areas of their respective responsibilities.

The trust is funded directly from the Department for Education and is managed by a Board of Directors.
